Privacy notice: posts, private messages, and reports
This notice describes text posts, private messaging, and report review features in ConnectBy's first release.
Private messages
Messages are shown to the participants in an accepted connection. A recipient can report a message. Authorized reviewers can then see the reported message, the reason and details supplied by the reporter, the participants' usernames, and the review history. The reviewer queue shows report metadata without message text; opening a report is recorded in its audit history.
Public posts
Posts are shown to members who follow the author and are filtered when either member has blocked the other. A member who can see a post can report it. A separately authorized post reviewer can see the reported post, report reason, author and reporter usernames, and review history. A reviewer may remove a post from member feeds. Post reviewers do not receive access to private-message reports through this permission.
Post decisions and appeals
The post author can see a removal and its review reason. The member who reported the post can see its outcome and review reason. Each may submit one appeal of an eligible post decision within six months. Post reviewers see the appeal explanation and record each case view and decision. A pending appeal pauses routine report deletion. Report evidence and appeal history remain restricted to authorized reviewers; ordinary members see only the decisions concerning their own posts or reports.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account in Profile settings after confirming your password and, if enabled, two-factor authentication. This deletes your profile, posts, comments, images, relationships, interests, tokens, and private conversations involving your account, including messages from the other participant. Transfer administration or delete any groups you administer first. Restricted moderation report snapshots and audit evidence remain subject to the report retention periods below.
Why we retain reports
We retain reported message and post evidence to investigate safety concerns, document moderation decisions, handle disputes, and protect the rights of members and ConnectBy. A restricted snapshot remains if the original content or a linked account is deleted.
How long
Completed report evidence is normally deleted five years after the report was made. Open reports and pending post appeals remain until reviewed, and a documented legal hold may extend retention when necessary for a dispute, legal claim, or legal obligation. A daily cleanup runs while the API is operating and also runs when it starts. This notice does not set retention periods for other account or service data.
Report evidence is available only to authorized reviewers. See the Terms of Use for the content rules.
