ConnectBy Terms of Use

ConnectBy helps adults connect around shared interests and constructive community work. These terms apply to the first-release service.

Accounts, posts, and messages

Use your own account and keep its credentials secure. Private messages are available between accepted connections. Posts can be shared with members who follow you. Do not post or send harassment, hate, threats, spam, impersonation, another person's private information without permission, or other harmful or unlawful material.

Reports and moderation

Members may report a private message they receive or a post visible to them. ConnectBy may review reported material, record a decision, remove a reported post, and restrict an account or its use of the service when needed to protect members or enforce these terms. A report does not by itself establish that a member violated the rules. ConnectBy will assess the context before deciding on a penalty.

Post review and appeals

If ConnectBy removes a reported post, its author can see the decision and reason in their post decisions area. A member whose report was dismissed can see the dismissal and reason in their reported posts area. Either affected member may submit one free appeal within six months of the original post decision. A different authorized reviewer considers the appeal and records the reason for upholding or reversing it. Reversal restores an existing post when no other removal applies; deleted posts cannot be restored. Account penalties require separate review rules.

Evidence retention

When a private message or post is reported, ConnectBy keeps a restricted copy of the reported content, the report, and the review record. Deleting the original content or an account does not automatically delete that report evidence. Completed reports are normally deleted five years after the report was made. An unresolved report or pending post appeal may remain until its review is complete. A documented legal hold may extend retention while needed for a dispute, legal claim, or legal obligation. Nothing in these terms removes rights that applicable law gives members. ConnectBy may update these terms as the service evolves and will communicate material changes before they apply.
